SAVCO Gives Again!

At SAVCO’s April 14, 2022 meeting, each of the following Community Non-Profit Organizations were presented with a $1,000 donation.

Tracey McConnell, Verde Valley Sanctuary  The Verde Valley Sanctuary provides a safe haven for victims of family violence and sexual assault.  They have a 28-bed shelter complex and their services are provided completely free of charge to clients and funded through grant and private donations.

Marjorie Harris, Sedona Community Center, Meals on Wheels program For many of the seniors in our community, Meals on Wheels deliveries are literally the difference between remaining in their own homes and needing to relocate to a nursing or assisted living facility.  The delivery of a nutritious meal, friendly visit and wellness check help them cope with three of the biggest threats of aging: hunger, isolation and loss of independence.  The Breakfast/Weekend Club provides seniors a bag of varied food items to allow for a healthy diet over the weekend.

Kevin Adams, Verde Valley Wheel Fun  In 2017 the nonprofit organization, Verde Valley Cyclists Coalition launched a series of after-school mountain bike clubs.  By 2019 it became its own entity, Verde Valley Wheel Fun.  They now have clubs in 13 different Verde Valley Schools.  The current program has 130 kids participating, coached by 33 trained volunteers.
