Kids, Bikes & Smiles

Sedona Toys for Tots Bicycle Distribution Day at West Sedona School on December 12 was a great success with 59 Sedona children receiving a brand-new bike and helmet.

  • Verde Valley Cyclists Coalition helped safety check every bike before the children arrived and assisted Sedona Area Veteran & Community Outreach Volunteers (SAVCO) fit the bikes to each child.

  • Coconino County Safe Kids donated helmets and asked each child to promise to wear their helmet.

  • To top off the day, the Sedona Fire District held a Bicycle Rodeo with an emphasis on safe bicycle riding.  We were privileged to have members of Sedona Fire District’s Community Risk Reduction Division, Inspector/Engineer Riddell and Fire Marshal Booth joined by Chief Trautwein who helped the kids through their Bicycle Rodeo course to learn braking, turning, and safe riding.

  • Sedona Toys for Tots is extremely grateful for the support of the West Sedona School District and the staff at West Sedona School, especially Maria Ortega and school nurse, Yeni Caballero.

  • Toys for Tots would also like to thank Café Jose, Hideaway House Restaurant, Firecreek Coffee Company for providing food and drinks for the many volunteers.

What an exciting day for Sedona children and their families and the many volunteers.
