Thanks to the hard work of many volunteers and the support and donations of a record number of people like YOU, the 2021 Charity Golf Event was the most successful in Sedona Marine Corps League/SAVCO history!

While the exact amount raised is currently being tallied, we can confidently say we had the highest turnout ever, and sold more mulligans and raffle tickets than in previous years. All funds will help support our charity efforts, including our annual Higher Education Scholarship, the 89 Flags on 89A project, and our Direct Veteran Assistance programs.

It was a beautiful day on the Oakcreek Country Club course and golfers looked happy to tee off among the post-monsoon greenery and bright morning sun. Volunteers busied themselves checking folks in, selling raffle tickets, and pointing out the fabulous silent auction items, while golfers warmed up and tested their swings at the chipping contest.

Ron Graham was the first (of four) golfers to land a ball in the chipping contest kiddie pool to take home a portion of the pot. Lucky winner, Don Sprenkel, won the 50/50 raffle drawing — taking home $605!

The winning foursomes on the links were:

  • First Place: Chip Bicking, Brian Smith, Charlie Kost and Paul Martin

  • Second Place: Dylan Shugrue, Mark Shugrue, Logan Davis and CJ Davis

  • Third Place: Raef Lillesve, Derek Lillesve, Dan Olson and Lance Warnock

The event would never have gone off so smoothly without the leadership of organizer, Gordie Garvey, and the hard work of all the volunteers, including Jack Ross, Karen Barrow, Leonard Barrow, Al Coxe, Evan Holtz, Dave Fanning, Tyler Eagledale, Paul Brown, Jeanne Brown, RE Talton, Bonnie McKeon, George Ault, Matt McKeon, Ann Garvey, and Carol Ray.
